Abstract:

The objective of our research was to develop a method to produce transparent heating layers on optical elements. We have studied CVD-deposited graphene layers. Graphene was first deposited on copper foil, then transferred on optical substrates. Typical microscopic defects in the produced layers included folds, multi-layer islands, cracks. Resistance of the layers to environmental conditions and their ability to serve as resistive heating elements have been evaluated. Mechanical strength and electrochemical corrosion of the layers limit the range of possible applications.
