Accumulation of radiation defects in materials

Series:
Seminarium Departamentu Eksploatacji Obiektów Jądrowych
Speaker and affiliation:
Professor Jacek Jagielski, NCBJ
Date:
Tue, 2016-04-05 11:30
Venue:
Conference room in the MARIA reactor building in Świerk
Abstract:
Generation/accumulation of radiation defects in irradiated materials must be taken into account in many areas of nuclear R&D. Defects are also among the key issues faced in many applications of nuclear technologies (e.g. implantation doping of semiconductors). Topics to-be-presented during the seminar include: (i) fundamentals of interaction of charged particles with various materials; (ii) description of the degree to which material is defected and the displacement per atom (d.p.a.) unit; (iii) transformations of defects in the defected materials. The main emphasis will be put on phenomena occurring at energies below the Coulomb barrier and processes running when materials are defected by means of some elastic interactions.

Management of Reactor Research & Technologies Division (EJ3) in Nuclear Facilities Operations Department (DEJ) of NCBJ

The seminar will be held in the MARIA reactor building conference room in Świerk. NCBJ bus leaves to Świerk at 10.15 am from entrance gate to the Hoża 69 premises in Warsaw. Persons other than NCBJ employees who wish to attend are kindly requested to contact NCBJ Nuclear Facilities Operations Department (DEJ) Secretary’s Office (phone 22 273 10 80, mailto:ewelina.ciborek@ncbj.gov.pl) not later than on March 31, 2016.
