We are inviting students of physics to apply for 4 year-duration doctoral studies in experimental neutrino physics.

Job location: Warsaw downtown (Pasteura 7, str).

This position is related to the project “Indirect search for dark matter with water neutrino detectors” funded by the National Science Center (NCN), Poland and run by the Warsaw Neutrino Group (http://neutrino.ncbj.gov.pl/). The successful candidate will participate in the international research related to development and operation of the new generation of neutrino telescopes such as KM3NeT (constructed in waters of the Mediterranean Sea, http://www.km3net.org/), Hyper-Kamiokande or Super-Kamiokande-Gd (both in Japan, http://www-sk.icrr.u-tokyo.ac.jp/sk/index-e.html). As a potential member of those international collaborations the candidate will analyze experimental data acquired by the detectors, participate in development of the simulation software and reconstruction tools (also based on machine learning and artificial intelligence solutions) and occasional hardware tests. Specifics of the job will depend on the individual preferences of the candidate.

Funding necessary to cover travel costs to cooperating institutions in Europe/Japan and costs of participation in relevant international scientific conferences/workshops has been allocated in the project budget.

Before starting work in the project the candidate should qualify and pass the entry exams for the PhD studies at the Graduate School of Physics and Chemistry (http://gradschool.ncbj.gov.pl/) established jointly by the National Centre for Nuclear Research and the Institute of Nuclear Chemistry and Technology. The Graduate School is hosting the doctoral program.

Please notice that it requires independent application with a deadline of July/31 st , 2019. Only the winning candidate of this application is allowed to enter qualification for this subject at the Graduate School. We will inform the winning candidate about this fact until July/25.
