Each student of the NCBJ-organized PhD Study / applicant who has successfully passed the recruitment process for the Study is invited to join the Warsaw Neutrino Group (http://neutrino.fuw.edu.pl/) as a scholar in the Indirect Detection of Dark Matter Particles Using Water-Based Detectors of Neutrinos research project. The project team members will participate in works of an international team assigned the task to develop the KM3NeT neutrino telescope in waters of the Mediterranean Sea (http://www.km3net.org/). Some involvement in works conducted at the Super-Kamiokande neutrino detector operated in Japan (http://www-sk.icrr.u-tokyo.ac.jp/sk/index-e.html) is also planned; last year results obtained at Super-Kamiokande were honoured already the second time with Nobel Prize in physics. Funds necessary to cover travel costs to cooperating institutions in Europe and Japan as well as to participate in relevant scientific conferences/workshops have been set aside in the project budget.
Particular tasks assigned to the successful candidate will depend on his/her individual preferences. The tasks include study of sensitivity of new generation neutrino telescopes in search for Dark Matter particles, analysis of the acquired experimental data, development of the KM3NeT neutrino telescope software and/or hardware, etc.
