Assistant professor
at the Laboratory of Nuclear Energy and Environmental Studies (UZ3)
Work location: Otwock - Świerk - in the outskirts of Warsaw with daily transport services provided.
Job/tasks description:
- Conducting Research work on materials exposed to neutron field irradiation (numerical and experimental), in particular TRISO fuel for high-temperature HTGR reactors.
- Research and implementation work in the field of qualification and assessment of the quality of TRISO fuel for the licensing process.
- Participation in projects supporting the Polish Nuclear Power Program.
- Analytical work in the field of NCBJ activity: the creation of substantive documents and materials (reports, presentations, notes), and translations.
- Preparation of materials for scientific articles and conference presentations.
- Performing other activities assigned by the Head of the Division and other NCBJ superiors.
- Performing duties in accordance with the Work Regulations in force at the Institute.
- Observance of state and official secrets, work discipline, occupational health and safety regulations, fire regulations, and rules of protection against ionizing radiation.
Requirements:
- PhD in physics or technical sciences.
- Documented scientific activity in the field of research on materials subjected to irradiation in a neutron field, in particular TRISO fuel for high-temperature HTGR reactors.
- Potential and competences to create a research program of the TRISO nuclear fuel testing and qualification laboratory.
- Experience and ability to combine experimental work with computer simulations.
- Ability to perform computer simulations using Bison code.
- Knowledge of the TRISO fuel qualification and quality assessment methodology for the licensing process.
- Documented participation or leading research or R&D projects.
- Organization and analytical skills for scientific activity.
- Capabilities in self-directed and team work.
- Advanced English skills in speaking and writing.
