Assistant Professor in probabilistic safety analyses of nuclear/chemical facilities, industrial facility risk analyses, reliability assessment

NCBJ opens a competition to fill up a vacancy at a position of Assistant Professor in Division of Nuclear Energy and Environmental Studies (UZ3) located in Świerk. The successful candidate must meet requirements specified in par. 43 of Act on Research Institutes passed on April 30, 2010 (Dz.U. 96 pos. 618).

Research in that field has been conducted in the MANHAZ Threat Analyses Centre of NCBJ Division of Nuclear Energy and Environmental Studies (formerly the MANHAZ Management of Health and Environmental Hazards Centre) for years. The position needs practical skills in conducting probabilistic analyses of safety of nuclear reactors/industrial facilities/experimental facilities, knowledge of various methods used to analyse risks associated with industrial facilities including reliability theory methods, as well as some relevant theoretical background.

 

Requirements:

  1. PhD in mathematics, physics or technical sciences.
  2. Documented scientific output (publications in international journals and/or conference presentations) in industrial facility risk analyses, reliability assessment, particularly concerning applications within these fields.
  3. Knowledge of statistical data processing techniques.
  4. Familiarity with the PSA/QRA software used in probabilistic safety analyses.
  5. Knowledge of methods to manage risk in nuclear facilities and familiarity with IAEA/NCC recommendations concerning safety of nuclear facilities.
  6. Analytical skills.
  7. Ability to work unattended/within teams/or as a project leader.
  8. Programming skills (Unix/Linux, script languages, C/C++);
  9. Good command of written/spoken English.
